Though born and raised in St. Paul, Nancy Paddock has long lived, written, gardened and taught English in Litchfield, Minnesota. She has worked as a poet-in-residence for COMPAS Writers and Artists in the Schools, and with her writer husband, Joe Paddock, she has been a regional poet for the Southwest Minnesota Arts and Humanities Council, a poet-in-residence for Minnesota Public Radio at Worthington, and a land theme developer for the American Farm Project. She has worked for the Land Stewardship Project which had evolved out of the AFP, and as an outcome of that work, she wrote two environmental plays and co-authored with Joe Paddock and Carol Bly Soil and Survival: Land Stewardship and the Future of American Agriculture (Sierra Club Books). Her poems have appeared in a great many journals and anthologies, and she has authored three books of poetry: A Dark Light (Vanilla Press), Trust the Wild Heart (Red Dragonfly Press), and Cooking with Pavarotti (Red Dragonfly Press). Trust the Wild Heart was a finalist for the Minnesota Book Awards, and her memoir about the life and passing of her parents, A Song at Twilight: Of Alzheimer’s and Love, was the 2012 winner of the Minnesota Book Award in Memoir.
