Synopsis
Chicka Chicka Boom ASL Curriculum is a themed American Sign Language instruction teacher's guide based on the classic children's book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. It is for children in grades Kindergarten to 2nd grade. This curriculum includes 20 specific lessons focusing on the following ASL Concepts: ABC’s, Fingerspelling, Playing with ASL Signs, Directionality, Personifcation, Facial Expressions, CL:1, and CL:5. Each American Sign Language lesson includes vocabulary, a step-by-step teacher’s guide, curriculum framework aligned to national standards, worksheets, weekly take-home activity guide for the parents, weekly assessment to chart student progress, access to signed videos, and other supplementary materials. ASL Concepts offers quality instruction for both Deaf and hearing students to develop their ASL skills, while also instilling ASL grammar and knowledge of Deaf culture. Founder of ASL Concepts, has 20+ years of ASL teaching experience. She holds a Bachelor's and Master's Degree from Dallas Baptist University and is working on her Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction. She teaches ASL in Anchorage, Alaska and has first-hand exposure within the Deaf community as a CODA (Child of a Deaf Adult). With a passion for teaching and writing ASL curriculum, Jessica aims to develop successful ASL programs throughout the nation.
