Synopsis

Anyone who’s hip to the New England literary scene is familiar with Doug Holder—not just from his writing, but because of his monumental contribution to a very grateful poetry community. As Arts Editor for The Somerville Times and publisher of the Ibbetson Street Press, he offers a written venue for voices of poetry from all over the world. Local poets have a place to perform at his two prestigious platforms, The Newton Free Library Poetry Series and his cable television show, Poet to Poet, Writer to Writer. As if that wasn’t enough, he acts as book editor for Wilderness House Literary Reviews, runs a literary blog, Boston Small Press and Poetry Scene, and for 36 years he offered a writing workshop to residents of McLean Psychiatric Hospital in Belmont, MA. He was the first recipient of the Newton Writing & Publishing Center’s “Allen Ginsberg Literary Contribution Award,” has received recognition from the Massachusetts House of Representatives for his work as a poet, publisher, editor, and college professor of creative writing at Bunker Hill Community College and Endicott College, and “The Doug Holder Papers Collection” is being processed at the University of Buffalo. We are so honored to be presenting for the first time a comprehensive collection of Mr. Holder’s best work, from his days as a young beatnik wannabe to a seasoned poet respected by those of us who know him, have learned from him, been published by him, and especially, inspired by him. This is more than a must-own collection. This is a must-keep-on-your-nightstand collection.
