Prof. P.K. Ray is a biomedical scientist, now seventy-six-years-old and the former Director of the Bose Institute, Ministry of Science and Technology, Calcutta, India. He is the ex-Director of the Indian Toxicological Research Institute, CSIR, Lucknow and Chittaranjan National Cancer Research Institute, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Calcutta, India. He also served as Director of the ADM Laboratory of Surgical Immunobiology, The Medical College of Pennsylvania and Hospital, Philadelphia, USA, and as Visiting Scientist at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, USA.

Prof. Ray is the author of 217 research publications, and fourteen books and monographs. Most of his books are on scientific subjects, such as cancer, immunology, toxicology, environmental sciences, sociology, water technology etc. In addition, he has also written on social, cultural, political and natural sciences.
