"Gary Harmon's latest offering, Travis, Texas, showcases his flair for the historical western, and he infuses the book with a realism that rings true on every page. No doubt aided by his early experiences as a stock trader, Harmon knows whereof he speaks. But the author is a storyteller at heart, and in Travis, Texas he's created a corral full of colorful characters and makes you care about them. If you like authentic, fact-based westerns, you're sure to enjoy Travis, Texas." -R. J. Norgard, author of Road Kill and Trophy Kill

À propos de l?auteur

Gary Harmon was born and raised in Evansville, Indiana. His father was a cattle dealer specializing in moving Texas calf crops to the feed lots of Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky. From this background it was natural for Gary to enter into meat packing and livestock trading on his own. He served as a buyer/seller of livestock in the markets of Evansville; Owensboro, Kentucky; Chicago, Illinois; and Kansas City, Missouri.

As a boy and young man, horses were of constant interest to Gary. When he was six, he was given a Shetland pony named Junebug. Many other horses would follow. Spending his early life among livestock dealers and

traders, he was to hear many tales of western derring-do. Some were true. Some were half true. Some were bald-faced lies. Gary thought them all wonderful.

A U.S. Army veteran, Gary attended Evansville University. In 1968 he relocated to Erie County, Ohio as hog buyer for the Waldock Meat Packing Company. When that factory closed he entered into real estate, a career that would last forty years. It was also in 1968 that he met and married Dona, his companion for fifty-three years, until her death in 2022.

Father of Jenny and Buck, grandfather of C.J. and Cassie, Gary continues to remember the years among the cowboys, traders and feed lots. He passes these tales on whenever he finds someone to listen.
