Although the poetry gives a window into the culture and history of the time, more importantly, it shares Rumi's spiritual journey from existence to Absence or Nothingness. Millicent Alexander met Nevit Ergin in 1972 and worked with him to bring Rumi's poetry to the Western world from 1992 until his passing in 2015. She is a retired educator who lives in Los Angles, California.
