Synopsis

That night I dreamed.I was in my white nightgown, my hair streaming in a thick cascade down my back. I was standing on my window ledge looking around at the quiet, moonlit nightscape. There was a serene beauty kissing the gossamer moon threads that speckled every snowclad object in its path. As I stood on the top of my bedroom window ledge, two stories high, looking out at the still night, a soft wind caressed my face, and strangely it didn’t feel cold or uncomfortable. I felt I could fly and take on the world - my world - and bravely lifted a foot and stretched it out in the empty silvery air, when I felt a presence beside me, hovering just beside my window. That was when I woke up and realized I was screaming.A remote village, a thirsty longing, a bloodcurdling secret... What is the mystery behind the friend that shuns her, the mother who refuses to delve into the past and the powerful dreams that rake her soul? Twelve year old Yasmine is hiding something and it is tearing her apart

À propos de l'auteur

S. Hafreth was born in the UAE and is currently living in Australia. Coming from an Islamic background, S. Hafreth felt that there were very few books out there (and none when she was growing up), representing Muslims in an everyday environment, doing normal everyday things people did and depicting their beliefs through everyday actions, as opposed to how the media portrayed them. Always an avid reader, cushioned around the works of Enid Blyton, then Christopher Pike, Bryce Courtenay, Jodi Picoult and Margaret Atwood, her pen revolved around a mixture of these authors’ genres but nothing held long enough to result in a satisfactory novel. Then in 2011 she stumbled upon an FB page that published creative Islamic poetry and prose, combining the beauty of the written word with spirituality sans the preaching effect. Through that page she discovered other blossoming writers and somewhere in the midst of it all, a story was born, one of mystery, suspense, faith in hardship, and of course frost. Her interests include reading, especially when she is on a writing hiatus, and writing, after all that reading has hit the roof with inspiration. She also likes to travel, spend time with her husband and two kids and cook (not bake, and you’ll find funny stories on her baking disaster, plus more, if you visit the writer’s page she co-admins on Facebook, where her true writing journey began, Islamic inspiring Words – IiWords.
