Synopsis

This holiday season, discover festivals from across South Asia to join in an inclusive, multi-faith celebration!

Harini can't wait to share her family's Diwali traditions with her class. To her surprise, her friends Amrit, Dhiman, and Urvi are dressed up as well! Harini learns about other South Asian festivals-Bandi Chhor Divas, Tihar, and Jain Deepavali-and the stories behind them. Harini notices shared traditions, like lighting clay diyas and exchanging gifts, and differences as well, like making pets feel extra special. When their classmate Anna feels left out, Harini and her friends find a sweet way to include her in the celebrations.

In this revised version of the beloved picture book Let's Celebrate Diwali, educator Anjali Joshi showcases four South Asian festivals of light from Sikh, Hindu and Jain traditions in a classroom-ready story, perfect for Diwali story time.

A propos du livre

À propos des auteurs

Anjali Joshi is a science teacher and curriculum developer by day and children's book author by night. She has 15+ years of experience in the field of K-12 science education. At dawn and dusk, she spends her time fighting monsters, training Pokémon, and playing dress-up with her two amazing kids.

Tim was born in Salem, Massachusetts to a non-witching family (as far as he knows). But he always felt a little magic when he was creating. From elementary school and beyond, Tim took lots of art classes and stayed up way too late many nights drawing. He had a knack for making works of art using everything from pencils and ink to egg cartons and popsicle sticks! Now he uses his computer and his imagination to make the world a cuter place. When Tim isn't illustrating or designing books, you can find him baking cakes, time-traveling, planning his global takeover, and binge-watching cheesy sitcoms with his super-charming husband, Michael and three canine beasts, Edith, Lavinia and Esteban.
