Synopsis

In a fashion-focused future, rich kids enjoy trips to “SmallWorld”, a virtual visit to the slums of the lower city. Piedra is theirguide, a lowland local who few ever meet in real life. But young Kumiko and herbrothers get the rare surprise when Piedra shows up in their garage fleeing fromthe evil Gaucho and his band of misfits. Suddenly their virtual adventurebecomes real!

Described by the author, JD Morvan, as a "cyberpunk PeterPan", SMALL WORLD mixes elements of classic European adventures with the stylishfuturism of such manga classics as AKIRA and GHOST IN THE SHELL. A gonzo blendof Victorian architecture, punk rock, and cutting-edge sci-fi concepts, this"manga-adjacent" tale is unlike anything else on shelves. Illustrated bycelebrated mangaka Toru Terada, this work stands as his only full-length comicseries to date, despite his global popularity.

Combining American, Asian, and European comic elements, this book oscillates between adorable cuteness andexplicit violence in a way that fans of contemporary anime hits such asAGGRETSUKO, ONE-PUNCH MAN, MOB PSYCHO, and KILL LA KILL will recognize andgravitate toward.
