Introducing the Violin, Volume 2 is a skill-sequenced collection of solos and skill builders that picks up where Volume 1 left off. The first few solos are relatively easy to learn, allowing the student to focus attention on developing varied bow articulations. Skill builders introduce new playing skills, including first and fourth finger extensions, longer slurs, varied left hand settings, and playing in flat keys. Each skill builder is a focused exercise designed to develop a particular skill. These new skills are then used in solos throughout the rest of the book. Each solo is also accompanied by recommendations for scale and bowing practice. Solos range from 16 to 43 measures in length, and increase in difficulty as the book progresses. Introducing the Violin, Volume 2 is skill-compatible with comparable books in other prominent methods. It may be used as primary teaching material, as a source of supplementary solos, or as material for practicing reading.Repertoire: May Carol (traditional); La Chasse (Paganini); King William's March (Purcell); Gavotte, from Arianna in Creta (Handel); Prelude (Chopin); Ecossaise in G Major (Beethoven); Trumpet Tune (Purcell); I live not where I love (Elizabethan ballad); Pastime with good company (King Henry VIII); German Dance (Schubert); Old French Song (Tchaikovsky); Minuet (Mozart); Ländler (Schubert); Gavotte (Rameau); March, from Hercules (Handel); Sarabanda (Corelli); Chorale, from Wachet auf (Bach); Corrente (Corelli); Grand valse brillante (Chopin); In the Hall of the Mountain King, from Peer Gynt (Grieg)
