Set in 1970s New York City, this dark coming-of-age thriller follows twin sisters as corruption, decadence, and greed engulf any vestiges of innocence, trust, and security they may have left.
Khalika and Violet, twin girls growing up in a privileged hell, are on the cusp of adulthood after barely surviving a childhood that threatened to shred their psyches before devouring them both in a seismic swirl of pure evil.
But one of the sisters has a few moves of her own planned, ones that will require the full cooperation of the other . . .

Janet Porter (nee Champer) arrived in Pittsburg, at the start of what came to be known as, “The Baby Boom,” following the Second World War.
In an era that virtually defined American exceptionalism, Ms. Porter survived her young adulthood in New York City, where she experienced firsthand the gradual unraveling of the social contract. Subsequent years of living in the Deep South has continued to inform her world view, and have driven a deep need to find meaning and her place in the Cosmos. That place has come to be defined by her passionate advocacy for animal rights, and her work in animal rescue. Janet settled in rural Oregon, where she cares for horses, dogs, cats, and any other creatures that need a hand.
This is Janet’s first novel. She hopes you enjoy it.
