A cheerful boy with a friendly pooch, resides in the town of Figgle Nooch. He lives with his uncle, Johnny Von Hatcher, a grouchy man, the official frog catcher. Thus begins the journey of a young boy who becomes aware of how electricity is produced in his town – by frogs tied to a gizmo with bubble gum string – and his plan to return them “to their water ballet.” The story illustrates the power from speaking up for what you believe in. Daniel makes a case for the frogs to be freed. Vibrant illustrations depict depth of emotion, as well as a breadth of diversity in the population of Figgle Nooch. This is a tale that quietly encourages compassion, while tapping into that sense of justice and love of animals, naturally present in the younger child.
