Synopsis

Sylvia recounts her teenage years in her home in Brazil. How the tide of life swept her to California, where she met and married the man of her dreams. Their lives took unexpected turns and they encountered more than one stormy gale that left them clinging to the Master as they embarked on their adoption journey. But the three years of painful uncertainties and endless detours only served to make the long awaited fulfillment of their dreams the more beautiful.

When their precious son-to-be with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus was placed in their arms they knew their lives would never be the same. With hearts full of joy and some trepidation they learned to navigate their way through the medical jargon, doctor visits, and therapies. All too soon they became familiar with the hospital walls, weary hours in the E.R., and surgical waiting rooms.

They found themselves facing another adoption journey that rewarded them with two beautiful little girls that are definitely made of sugar and spice (heavy on the spice). And not surprisingly, they have already set sail on one more special journey in the hope of finding a very precious little bundle they dream of adding to their nest.

They now live in Arizona with five of their six children. Their home is a place where little aching hearts have found a reason to laugh, dance, and heal; where the joy and the messiness of being a family is lived out daily with thankful hearts to the one who caused the tides to bring them together.
