A popular court stenographer is missing. Her blood-soaked Mustang is found in an abandoned strip mall.

Police Chief Mitchell Quinn left an exciting career as a Military Police Investigator and returned to his hometown. Struggling with personal tragedies and lamenting the tedium of a small lakeside resort, he investigates the disappearance and finds the woman’s cell phone behind a posh vacation home.

Renowned trial lawyer Lawrence Atwood seems a shoo-in for Michigan governor. He denies knowledge of the missing woman’s whereabouts insisting their relationship was purely professional. Is he hiding something?

The daughter of a deceased FBI agent suddenly appears, claiming a psychopathic serial killer is responsible. Gruesome evidence points to a different suspect. When she and Mitch become attracted, she insists that he change course, but Mitch is concerned she has a personal motive. Are two unusual deaths somehow connected to their search for answers?

A stranger is watching as an election hangs on the outcome of a scandalous trial.
