Pia Pistachio Gets a Job, joyfully written by Pastiche Graham and delightfully illustrated by June Hardee, is a joyful, heartwarming children’s book about an imaginative, determined autistic girl taking on her very first job.
Pia Pistachio has always dreamed of working at Bibo’s Popper Popcorn. But dreams aren’t always easy—especially when you’re navigating sensory overload, unexpected changes, and the challenges of being new in the workplace. Wearing her pink tutu and purple bow, Pia discovers that this job isn’t just about popping popcorn—it’s about finding her strength, using her voice, and uncovering a surprising twist that reveals her true purpose.
Inspired by the author’s journey as an autistic adult, this empowering story celebrates:
Neurodiversity and inclusion
Resilience and perseverance
Self-acceptance and empathy
The joy of seeing the world from a different perspective
Perfect for parents, educators, counselors, and young readers ages 3–10, Pia Pistachio Gets a Job is an uplifting book for fans of social-emotional learning, disability representation, and inspiring picture books that help children understand autism and embrace differences.
If you believe every child should feel seen, valued, and celebrated, this is a book you’ll want to read over and over again and share with others.
