Kristine A. Polansky took a fiction writing class from James Gunn at the University of Kansas then went on to teach middle school English and social studies ten years before returning to school, the Washburn University School of Law in Topeka, Kansas, where (she jokes) she learned to write creative nonfiction. Poetry became a creative outlet for her as an attorney-short pieces she could write and revise in her mind. She began experimenting with poetic structures, studying how content and form shape each other. Named the Kansas Authors Club Poet of the Year three times, Kris has served the organization in many capacities, including as youth contest manager, financial secretary, vice president, and president. She currently leads the Kansas Authors Club-Manhattan Writing Group. She and her husband, Adrian Polansky, enjoy traveling and dancing.

Esther Boyd is a contemporary artist living in Kansas City. She studied art at Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas. Later, she pursued a BFA in textile design and a master's in architecture and culture from the University of Kansas. Flowers are the focus of many of her paintings, although the shapes and colors at local markets also have provided her with subject matter. The black and white illustrations of this book may seem a divergence from her usual work, but they reflect her many years of graphic design experience.
