Kathryn Ramsperger's literary voice is rooted in the Southern tradition of storytelling and is informed by her world travels. She began her career writing for The Roanoke Times, The National Geographic Society, and Kiplinger publications and later managed publications for the Red Cross and Red Crescent in Geneva, Switzerland. Writing from a global perspective, her themes are universal yet intensely personal and authentic.A graduate of Hollins University (Roanoke, Va.), Kathryn studied under several esteemed authors. She received another degree in Publications Management as a post-graduate at George Washington University.Winner of the Hollins University Fiction Award, Kathryn is also a finalist in the Faulkner-Wisdom literary competition. Her first novel, The Shores of Our Souls, won a Foreword Indies award for multicultural fiction and an America's Best Book Award. Readers' Favorite gave it 5 stars for social issues literature, and her novel is also an International Pulpwood Queens and Timber Guys Bonus Book of the Year. Her short stories have appeared in numerous journals, including The MacGuffin and Willow Review.Kathryn interned for President Jimmy Carter, has dined with artists ranging from author Marita Golden to musician and writer Kinky Friedman, and has traveled to every continent except Antarctica and Australia. She's worked in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. She currently lives in the DC suburbs. She and her husband have two adult children and a furry companion.
