Synopsis

"A woman must have money and a room of her own if she is to write fiction." - Virginia Woolf

A Room And A Voice: Performance Edition reimagines Virginia Woolf's landmark essay A Room of One's Own as a work for the stage, classroom, and voice. Adapted by Querida Funck, this edition blends Woolf's timeless words with new commentary, historical context, and performance notes designed for actors, educators, and storytellers.

Part literary adaptation and part rehearsal guide, this Performance Edition includes:

  • Historical and literary context to frame Woolf's vision
  • Story and character arcs for performance reading
  • Actor and voice techniques for bringing the text to life
  • Bonus excerpts from Woolf's essays that deepen the conversation

Ideal for readers' theatre, classroom study, and solo performance, this edition celebrates Woolf's call for creative freedom while offering practical tools for performance.

Querida Funck, playwright, stage director, and voice artist, brings fresh insight to Woolf's exploration of women, writing, and voice-making this a unique resource for students, teachers, performers, and literature lovers alike.
