At sixteen, I set about writing "the great American novel." I ended up writing my first poem instead. Being a very shy person, I found that poetry was a natural vehicle to convey the deep emotions that evaded expression through speech. I am a longtime resident of sunny Southern California, have two wonderful grown children, and am very active in my church.
