In today's world of instant potatoes and other forms of quick gratification, the short stories of my dad, Bob Liter, and first-chapter excerpts from his Bancroft Mysteries will entertain readers, delight romantics, puzzle mystery lovers, and especially appeal to Nick Bancroft Fans. The stories involve light romance, sports heroics, social and relationship challenges, and a mystery to indulge in. Included in the collection are the first chapters of the five murder mysteries from the Bancroft Mysteries Series, "Murder by the Book," "August is Murder," "Death Sting," "A Point of Murder," and "And the Band Played On." The last chapter in the book is from a novel in progress, "Murder Inherited."
My name is Martie Liter Ogborn, and the sixth book in the series is scheduled to be released in the last half of 2024. Bancroft Mysteries is becoming a generational project. Nick Bancroft will become something like British author P.G. Wodehouse's Mr. Mulliner, whose cousins, nieces, and nephews step into protagonist roles in their turn. I plan to author novels featuring Nick Bancroft's niece, J.B. Bancroft.
My son, Robert Lloyd Ogborn, is considering taking up the Bancroft Mysteries baton as Nick Bancroft III, the great nephew of Liter's original protagonist.
