Synopsis

What does it take to begin and stick with a creative practice in your day-to-day life? Starting in 2019, our group tackled that question.

Out of a series of in-person creativity exploration classes and gatherings, we've evolved into a mostly virtual, weekly labor of love that plays a critical role in creative habits and growth for each of us. These days, our core formula includes two or three weekly assignments: a collaborative prompt poem plus a mix of prose, poetry, and an occasional visual art exercise to keep it playful.

Week after week, the five of us have grown our skills, challenged ourselves and each other, and shared the joy of creating.

Our first chapbook, prompt by prompt 2022, is a sampling of prompt-based writing alongside notes you can use in your own creative group or work. Along with poetry and short prose, we've included mention of the original prompt for each work, a variety of takeaway prompts we hope you'll borrow, and a run-down of our unique twist on the collaborative exquisite corpse.
