Synopsis

Undeniably Guilty, Positively Forgiven is the powerful memoir of an African American Christian woman who finds healing after the devastating loss of her only son, Charles Emmanuel Briggs, to a senseless act of violence. On August 23, 2014, a young Caucasian man, Garrett Adams, took Charles's life with a compound bow and arrow. Through faith and resilience, Charlotte Perry-Briggs embarks on a profound journey from grief and anger to forgiveness, revealing the transformative power of grace.

The author shares the profound concept of forgiveness, drawing on psychological insights that define it as a conscious and deliberate choice to release feelings of resentment and vengeance, irrespective of whether the offender deserves it. She emphasizes that forgiveness does not equate to forgetting or condoning the offense but is a powerful act of letting go and finding healing.

Throughout the book, the author weaves in biblical references, particularly Mark 11:25, which underscores the importance of forgiveness in one's spiritual journey. She highlights Jesus' ultimate example of forgiveness on the cross, where He prayed for those who persecuted Him, saying, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do."

The title of the book Undeniably Guilty, Positively Forgiven reflects the author's immediate response to her son's murderer, Garrett. Despite the overwhelming pain and anger she felt, she embarked on a journey of forgiveness, understanding that it would not happen overnight. The author shares how her faith in God played a crucial role in this process and how she recognized the necessity of forgiving to receive forgiveness from God.

This memoir explores the author's struggles with grief, anger, and the lies perpetuated by Garret's family regarding her son. She candidly describes the challenge of dealing with such a brutal loss and her determination to forgive the one responsible for it.

Through personal reflections, faith-based wisdom, and practical insights, this book explores how to break free from guilt and embrace a life of restoration. Forgiveness is not just a choice; it's a process that leads to healing, purpose, and peace.

Undeniably Guilty, Positively Forgiven is a moving and inspirational account of one woman's remarkable journey from pain and anger to forgiveness and healing. It serves as a testament to the power of faith and resilience and the profound impact of forgiveness on the human soul.

No matter what your past holds, Undeniably Guilty, Positively Forgiven reminds us that forgiveness is possible, grace is available, and freedom is within reach.
