Synopsis

"Pig butchering scam is increasing nowadays; it’s a type of financial fraud where scammers cultivate a long-term romantic relationship with victims, before manipulating them into fake crypto platforms – meaning 'fattening' victims before 'slaughtering' them. I know there is one Korean woman who lost $70,000 due to it. The major origin of scammers is known to be Cambodia."

"Kanbu is an old Korean word meaning 'friend.' A restaurant named 'Kanbu Chicken' opened in 2006, but it hadn’t gotten much attention for 15 years. But, suddenly, the movie, 'Squid game,' released in 2021 and the restaurant got popular, as one antagonist started using the iconic word. It was on TV and Jensen praised its chickens passionately, though he doesn’t seem to know anyone from the joint. Some say that the eatery just got lucky. Most don’t recognize that it has endured Avian flu and COVID in the last 19 years."

"There was a K-pop group, having three male performers, debuted in 2004 – they were not extremely popular, but famed, and probably had been on TV 10 times a year until 2010; occasionally, I could see news about them in entertainment sections on the internet. What was unique about them was the lead singer – weirdly, he was known for his exceptional penury. I don't think they made a huge amount of money, to begin with, but the news I read was something like these: The leader Park could not afford his car, so he had to sell it, the hardest decision since he could not use public transportation as a celebrity; his fans collected some cash in a cardboard box and gave it to him at a meeting; the head of the fan club said, 'Do not misunderstand us'; etc. I guess these all happened by 2010 and I forgot about them afterward.

I believe it was 2017 when I saw him again with his wife and six kids on TV..."
