Synopsis

"Solonche is productive and prolific, but that doesn't water down his poetry... He can compress a philosophical treatise into three lines... His epigrammatic tidy poems are philosophic gems. Solonche sees humor and encapsulates it; he frames a thought in perfect verse... He's playful and profound - the more he writes, the more he seems to know. Beneath the Solonche simplicity are significant social comments, and his goodwill reinforces the best in us." -Grace Cavalieri

SAMPLE POEM:

Deaf Child Area

I have driven the road

many times, but have

never seen the deaf child,

not in the driveway, not in

the yard, not in the window.

But the sign has been there

a long time, so the child

may no longer be around.

I'd like to think just that.

I'd like to think the deaf

child grew up, went to

college, married, moved

away to start a life. I'd like

to think the parents, now

old and alone in the house,

left the sign there to say to

us drivers passing by, "Slow

down. Open the window.

Open your ears. Hear the

birds. Hear the horses. Hear

the wind. Hear the laughter

of the years."
