You will die. But first you will live. Wisdom of the Dying eloquently explores what brings meaning to our lives from the lens of a frontline health-care worker who watched many die over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic. Hamza Abbasi, MD is passionate about the intersection between health care and the humanities. He studied neuroscience and public policy at Dartmouth College and obtained his Doctor of Medicine from Northwestern University. The Northeast and Midwest were too cold, so he then moved to La Jolla, California where he trained at the internal medicine residency at Scripps Clinic. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Hamza cared for hospitalized patients at Scripps Memorial Hospital, Scripps Green Hospital, and the Naval Medical Center San Diego. Hamza has been the recipient of several humanism honors and clinical excellence awards from organizations including Northwestern University and Scripps Clinic, but all these pale in comparison to the honor of being referred to as "the chill attending" by trainees at Stanford University Medical Center. Hamza has been writing since childhood and has been an avid reader in every phase of life. These days, you can find him writing orreading around Lake Elizabeth in the Bay Area.
