This book is a collection of my poetry over the years inspired by the life I have led, working in the care setting and travelling all over the world. I hope you enjoy my work and may find it useful to use in the right settings, for instance 'Those in grief' has been used in funerals. My life has been rather colourful to say the least and I have been in a few situations, facing danger and adventure bringing me to the present day. Now at sixty-five, I can reflect on this and laugh at the funny events and sigh with relief at actually surviving other situations. I consider each event as a blip in my life and nothing more, yes, I do have nightmare from my worst experiences as a teenager but I just thank God that I survived to tell the tale. These poems also reflect society as it is today around the world including hate crime, racism, sexism, homophobia and much more

I am S R Sutton, author of fantasy horror novels and poetry; I have spent years of my life perfecting this art and feel passionate about many causes. It is my aim to demonstrate to the world exactly how I feel about the society today living in Manchester. I haven't always lived here; I grew up in Lichfield Staffordshire educated at Chadsmead infants and junior school and went on to Netherstowe where I developed my gift as an artist and appreciation of poetry. I was a care assistant for sixteen years before going into further education and going to Salford university graduating in 1999 and becoming a qualified general nurse, I entered education again at Manchester university as a student mental health nurse. My writing skills developed from writing essays and I was soon able to produce novels such as cracked porcelain, Understanding Jodie and the Harrington curse under various names such as Sarah Ruth Scott and Simon Robert Sinclair with the initials SRS. I continued to write poetry from 1988 to the present 2021, writing five books of poetry including Manchester and beyond poems from Manchester, Life (as we know it) Deep in thought, Out of the jar and The best of life the worst of life. My children, Gemma, Jeni, Mike and Dan, say they are proud of me, I respond by saying I do my best, this is what I tell everyone to just do your best. My appreciation for poetry came from my school days at Netherstowe thanks to my English teacher Miss Caines, she was also the head of the library back in the sixties and seventies a remarkable lady who looked as if she had stepped out of time from an earlier era judging by her hair style and the way she dressed.
