Synopsis

A poet who takes as much from the New York School as from the Metaphysicals, Arthur Vogelsang's images bespeak both imagination and intellect, his forms equal parts carpentry and classical piano, his aesthetic as whimsical as it is political. Arthur Vogelsang is the author of seven books of poetry. Twentieth Century Women (1988) was chosen by John Ashbery for the Contemporary Poetry Series, Cities and Towns (1996) received the Juniper Prize, and Orbit (2016) was in the Pitt Poetry Series. He has numerous appearances in anthologies such as The Best American Poetry (Scribner), American Hybrid (Norton), and The New Breadloaf Anthology of Contemporary Poetry. He was an editor/publisher of The American Poetry Review from 1973-2006. The recipient of a California Arts Council Fellowship and three National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships, he lives in Los Angeles with his wife Judith.
