Synopsis

Who doesn’t want to be successful at work? We show up and put in the effort, dedicating countless hours to helping our employers grow. And what do we get in return? So-so salaries, more work piled on us the more we do, and vanishing loyalty when times turn tough.

Is it random luck that propels some and hinders the rest? For some, it is most definitely not luck.

Your guide for this discussion is none other than Niccolò Machiavelli, speaking from across the centuries. His keen observation of human nature and power dynamics explains why the tips James discussed in Thriving at Work are incomplete. Even if you do not follow the tips outlined here, you’ll be well-positioned to deal with other people trying to leverage them against you.
