About this Novel: Shadows of the Forest is a result of my children's favorite pastime, they love to read. When they were younger, I asked them what type of books they liked most, and they gave me a list of their favorite stories. This gave me an idea, wouldn't it be interesting to read a book where you knew one of the characters was based on you? So I asked, and they agreed, that would be the best story ever. So, this book series was written for my children and friends, many of whom the characters are based on. My sons also have characters already created but will be introduced as the series progresses. They were too young to understand when this project initially took flight.

My Children's Characters are:

Jessica is DawnFire - Female Alpha of the Dawn Pack

Riley is ShadowWind - Wolf'en (warrior) of the Shadow Pack

Amanda is GhostSong - Shaman's Apprentice of the Ghost Pack

Ethan is StormFang - New Born Pup in the Shadow Pack (Introduced later)

Aidan is ShadowStar - New Born Pup in the Shadow Pack (Introduced later)

Kylie is Luna - Female Alpha of the Shadow Pack (my trusted mate in life)

Kent Olsen is OldGrayEyes - Shaman of the Shadow Pack (he is a wise and trusted friend and mentor who has been involved in most of my life)

And yes, there are more¿too many to list, yet each is greatly appreciated for their unique contributions.

John was born in California, USA in 1963 - after many adventures, he now lives in the mountains of Idaho, with his wife Kylie and their German Shepherd guardians. They live off-grid and work to become more self-sufficient with each passing season. His five children are all grown, making their own way in the great forest of life. With over thirty years of tactical training and experience. John drew upon his own experiences to teach his children and many other students. He focuses on lasting values, standing for truth, using faith, honor, and loyalty to navigate the roads of life and to prove chivalry is not dead. To never give up, and believe in yourself and others. Most of all, recognize there is a higher power we can all draw upon no matter what life brings.Teaching, Storytelling and creativity are his passions.
