Introduction 100 Disciplines to Higher Consciousness is a study guide for Disciples of truth. It entails the practice of certain disciplines in order to help raise ones consciousness. As such, this study guide entails work, hence this work-book. Anything worth having is certainly worth working for. This work book is a companion to 100 Disciplines to Higher Consciousness. They are to be used hand-in-hand as you work through each discipline. Learning comes by reading and memorization comes by writing things down. Studies have shown that when we write things down, we learn better because our brain has time to absorb the information. When we write, we put some degree of thought into evaluating and ordering the information we are receiving. This process is what helps fix ideas more firmly in our minds, leading to greater recall down the line. Writing down our thoughts is a therapeutic method of extrapolating information hidden deep within the recesses of our subconscious mind. In order to reprogram ourselves, we must engage that deeper aspect by redirecting our thinking. There’s something truly magical about putting pen to paper. The pouring out of words allows us to see our thoughts because the page serves as the canvas and our words serve as our thinking. This helps bring ideas to the forefront because we’re engaging our brain. Writing stimulates the cells at the base of the brain called the Reticular Activating System (RAS) which serves as a filter for everything our brain needs to process information. This gives more importance to the things we’re actively focusing on at that moment. Writing things down triggers the (RAS) which then sends signals to the cerebral cortex which stimulates the brain to wake-up and pay attention. This is why it’s very important to work through this study guide while reading each discipline. What’s especially interesting is that writing things down appears to help us remember the more important stuff. The better our notes, the more likely we are to remember. When we write, we have an emotional response that passes information to our memory so when we take notes, it affects us psychologically. Note taking creates relations between our minds and the information we’re reading and this helps filter out the less relevant or less important information to us. A crucial part of incorporating new information is by monitoring what we’ve learned. A powerful way to do this is to make a record of what we learn as we’re learning it. We retain information by creating a permanent record that we can revisit for years to come. This is why it’s recommended that you read one discipline per day for 100 days in order to fully indoctrinate this new practice into your subconscious. As we well know: Practice makes perfect. Therefore, 100 Disciplines to Higher Consciousness is not meant to be read as a novel. The information is meant to be absorbed into the psyche thru study and introspection. This approach will help reshape your learning process. By studying and writing down what you learn each day, you will be able to strengthen your retention and its relevance to your growth. This is the sole purpose of this work. May your life and your consciousness be elevated to a higher plain through the practice and study of: 100 Disciplines to Higher Consciousness. Namaste Peter C. Rogers, D.D., Ph.D.
