Preface Dear Family and Friends, Yes I am excited? Once again, this is an understatement! As we are hitting another milestone, the 4th month of our fifth year of publication . . . I am elated. Our initial vision was to just perform at this level for the year of 2014. Since that time we have had the blessed opportunity to include many other wonderful word artists and storytellers in the Poetry Posse from lands, cultures and persuasions all over the world. We have featured hundreds of additional poets, thereby introducing their poetic offerings to our vast global readership. In keeping with our effort and vision to expand the awareness of poets from all walks by making this offerings accessible, we at Inner Child Press will continue to make every volume a FREE Download. The books are also available for purchase at the affordable cost of $7.00 per volume. In the previous years, our monthly themes were Flowers, Birds, Gemstones and Trees. This year we have elected to take a different direction by theming our offerings after Cultures of past and present. In each month’s volume you will have the opportunity to not only read at least one poem themed by our Poetry Posse members about such culture, but we have included a few words about the culture in our prologue. The reasoning behind this is that now our poetry has the opportunity to be educational for not only the reader, but we poets as well. We hope you find the poetic offerings insightful as we use our poetic form to relay to you what we too have learned through our research in making our offering available to you, our readership. In closing, we would like to thank you for being an integral part of our amazing journey. Enjoy our amazing featured poets . . . they are amazing! Foreword The Nez Perce Sacred Care Within Nature’s Spirit-Guides Chief Joseph, of the Nez Perce is speaking at his surrender in the Bear Paw Mountains, 1877 “…I’m tired of fighting. All of our chiefs are now being killed. Looking Glass is dead, and even Tu-hul-hil-sote is also dead. Our old men, too, are now dead. We have only these very young men who will have to say yes or no for us. They who had once led with the young men are all dead. It has turned so cold, and we have no warm blankets to give shelter from the bitter winters. The children are freezing to death and my people have begun to run away into the hills for we have no sheltering blankets and not even any food to eat. No one knows for sure where the Real People are now --- perhaps they are left freezing to death in the hills. I wish to look for all my children and try and see if I can even find them. Maybe I will find them too among the dead. Hear me, my Great Chiefs, hear how my heart has become so sick and so very sad. Watching now from where this strange sun stands, I say… I will fight no more… forever." The Year of the Poet resides in giving us life’s living poetry through the heart-breaths of the poets in poems that are channeled intuitively from divine inner-musing. Opening us inside poetry’s super consciousness for sharing care from the poet’s knowledge - expanding us to cross over eternal cultural bridges - merging so transcendentally. We come to live, through the poet’s visionary experiences. Poetry channels from the all-universal core into collective soul; letting go, while ever holding on for flying us on eagle-wings of the poet’s mystic words; gifting just so poetically, we too, arrive to meet within the divine sacred breathless breaths. We live spiritual reenactments within what is known and unknown; finding sacred transcendental-connections. We are flowing touches that ever try and reach the present in the poet’s sacred spirit-world. Jen Walls
