Merry Maxwell studied at Humboldt State-Cal Poly University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor degree in Wildlife Management. She moved to Alaska after college and spent twenty years working for the National Wildlife Refuge System, mostly in-state. When she retired, she returned to Washington State, the place where she was born. She now lives in Washington's Methow Valley and writes with the valley's Confluence Poets.

Eileen "Sam" Owen earned her Master's Degree in Creative Writing from the University of Washington and was awarded two Artists' Residencies from the Ucross Foundation in Wyoming. Her previous work includes a chapbook, Facing the Weather Side, published by Basilisk Press in 1985, and Split, released in December 2019 by the Independent Writers' Studio Press in Bellingham, Washington. She writes with the Methow Valley's Confluence Poets.
