Synopsis

The novel centers on Angie, a woman with a troubled past who is desperate to have a family. When her partner, Hans, is diagnosed with a condition that makes fathering a child almost impossible, Angie takes matters into her own hands. She begins a chilling pattern of seducing healthy young men during her most fertile periods, only to silence them once they have served their purpose.

The story unfolds from multiple perspectives, following Angie as she methodically creates her family, and investigative journalist Thomas Münzer, who becomes suspicious after a series of eerily similar deaths of young men in various "Hotel Stadt Zentrum" locations across Germany. As Thomas pieces together the evidence, he uncovers a pattern that points to a single perpetrator. The narrative explores themes of obsession, morality, and the devastating consequences of secrets, culminating in a tense legal and personal unraveling that tests the bonds of family and justice.
