Synopsis
Let’s write impactful sermons that have depth, but are simple to organize and deliver. In this 2nd book of the "Simple Sermon Solution" series, you will find the devotional commentary/sermon notes from two different Easter sermons four years apart. The sermons were written in manuscript form originally. That is my style of writing. Then, I familiarize myself with the notes so that I only have to reference them as needed while preaching. However, there is a huge difference between the first and the second sermon. While I like them both and find them biblically faithful, each was written with a different preparatory style. The Good Friday sermon was written with my typical Big Picture Question style. But I fell into the trap of merely being a living commentary. Here is verse 1. Verse 1 means this. Here is verse 2. Repeat. And while I am committed to faithfully exegeting the verses I preach, I am also committed that the preacher must be more than a living commentary. They must preach. The second sermon, from Easter 2017, was written using the Simple Sermon Solution. I find it much more effective in communicating the central point of the sermon and easier to deliver. Either way, I hope both sermons are encouraging in their own rights and also informative in how to prepare sermons for delivery. Enjoy.
