"A man who headed a drug smuggling ring which brought cannabis to Scotland from Spain has been jailed for 10 years. Three others were sent to prison for a total of 13 years at the High Court in Edinburgh. Alan Dickson, 31, from Falkland, in Fife, dispatched couriers with suitcases packed with cannabis resin from his apartment in Torremelinos, Spain. After convicting him of being concerned in the supply of cannabis, the jury heard Dickson had been jailed for five years in 1997 for drug trafficking. Sentencing him, Lord Mackay of Drumadoon, said: "It is impossible for me to be certain as to the street value of the drugs but the court has heard evidence suggesting that it was in excess of a million pounds."
