Husband and wife may have two bodies, but spiritually their soul is only one. This oneness of husband and wife is depicted in this book.The Oneness concept has been well established in the Vedas. First the ‘commonness of the hearts’ concept comes in Rigveda. This commonness of the hearts concept is not specific to the husband and wife situation. But it can be interpreted as such. Then the story of husband and wife comes two times in Brihadaranyaka Upanishad. In this Upanishad, sage Yajnavalkya, the sage who composed Shukla Yajurveda, describes, in an elaborate way, the oneness concept to his wife Maitreyi.Furthermore, in the twelfth century of Common Era (CE/AD), this type of husband-wife oneness relationship is exemplified in the Vachanas that are in the Kannada Language.There may be other sacred scriptures that are not mentioned here which may describe this oneness of husband and wife situation.
