Synopsis

Over a course of a long life I have voted in any election, local, state, national, in which I was eligible to do so. That’s not a brag. It’s just that I have always thought I should honor the privilege and responsibility of voting. Had I not done so, I had no right to complain about what happened after the election. I have voted for Democrats, Republicans and Independents. Some of those I voted for, won and some lost. In some cases I was happy with the results and sometimes disappointed. Still, I felt that if the election was fairly held, I owed it to the system to wish the winner well and hope for the best possible results. However, this grace period would not last forever. It would become necessary to access the elected official’s words and actions, and if I believed they were in anyway dishonest or threatened American principles, dearly won and our precious heritage, protest them. I wish I had been able to follow this practice with Donald J. Trump, but his dishonest and unconstitutional beliefs became obvious long before he was elected. If it was just that I disagreed with his policies but was able to respect his motives, then I would only speak out when something he did or said seemed to me both morally and ethically wrong. Unfortunately, just about everything Trump says or does falls into these categories. Presidents are expected to united American citizens not divide them. Trump’s life is a series of disregard for the Ten Commandments, despite his insistence of his Christian beliefs, as well as a threat to all of the Ten Amendments known as the Bill of Rights, save the second, which in his mind justifies allowing weapons, more suited for a real militia, in anyone’s hands, regardless of their mental state and anti-societal behavior, without any checks. There are many things that require licenses to own and use, why should somethings that only purpose is to wound or kill. Yes, I know that supports of the positions of the NRA are concerned about the government having dictatorial powers without any defense against them. With Trump as President, I am almost in agreement with them. He has no regard for citizen’s rights and sees himself as invincible and should be free of any criticism or disagreement. The nation has survived some unlikely characters as President of the United States, but none can touch Trump for incompetence and contempt for the constitution.
