The Ghost of Corporal Devos: War is a collection of brutal realities and of ways the human condition can be brought to extremes. When the WWII combat veterans came home, everyone’s story was different, yet sounded the same. After a while no-one was really listening, because they all sounded similar; and people just wanted to forget their epic journey and have a good life. But it was our WWII heroes who gave us this good life. This is a story, of military fact and fiction that should not be forgotten, about those heroes, so their stories do not pass into the shadows of lost time. Thereafter, these combat veterans slipped into silence. But their eyes looking out into the distance are the only gateways to the trauma and pain these combat veterans endured only seeing the diaster in their mind. So many years have passed and now this saga of a generation is fading to ghost tales in vanished time. This is a story of one of those ghost tales. It is my hope that this book will be appreciated by the next generation of heroes.
