The War Diaries of Virgil Collum is a detailed account of his time onboard the USS Ulvert M. Moore (DE-442) during the Korean War. With entries from 1951 to the end of 1953, Virgil speaks of the ships the Moore fought alongside; actions against North Korean positions; and the rare trips to the mainland. Included, of course, are the joys of liberty and the problems sailors of every time have faced. Virgil's diaries have been transcribed and published so people might have an accurate telling of how the Korean War looked to an American sailor.
