Synopsis

As a special education teacher for 20+ years, I’ve been given a gift every day--my students. Each one has given me the opportunity to see the world as they see it. And what an interesting world it is! For example, I enjoyed watching students celebrate the first day of school in different ways. One student in particular celebrated the first day decked out in a princess dress and tiara. She began the year as royalty! By the end of the year, everyone in the hall knew her name and would greet her with a “Hi, Cassie.” She actually was royalty to her newfound friends! Her positive attitude and joyful approach to each day was infectious. She seemed to know when someone needed their spirits lifted and she would always oblige with a hug or squeeze of the hand. I wrote this first book in the series “Life Lessons” to celebrate my amazing young friend, Cassie. I taught her life skills, and in return she gave me something even more precious-- a reminder of what life is really all about. I hope you enjoy Cassie’s life lessons!
