Cuba has been a crucible of experiments and the Cuban people were often decimated to the status of mere particles in large scale reactions. Yet, the deeper essence of what constitutes the Cuban existence continued even during the times of absolute subjugation of the Cuban people. This book offers critical and reflective views on some of the crucial historical developments that Cuba underwent over the last five hundred years and more. Tourism has been a key driver throughout the Cuban history; Cuba’s perils and prospects are intricately intertwined with its tourism development. Hence, the discussion contained in this book accords special mention to tourism in Cuba.
