If you like your fiction entwined with fact (faction), this collection of “flash fiction” (less than 250 words per story) is for you! Many of the stories featured here were award-winning entries in the weekly Flash Fiction Challenges sponsored by the Website Indies Unlimited. Other tales were inspired by or drawn from the short stories found in Cohen’s The Road Less Taken: A Collection of Unusual Short Stories, Books 1 and 2, or from some of his mystery/thrillers. In Creative Ink, Flashy Fiction, Flash Fiction Anthology – Book 1, you’ll find the story of a distraught woman seeking answers from a fortune teller regarding her wayward daughter; a story about a French doll that predicts the future; a tale about a sharecropper whose family lost everything; and a chat over breakfast with a man who was on the posse that hunted down and killed Bonnie and Clyde. In short (pun intended), there is something in this book for almost every genre and taste.

Theodore Jerome Cohen is an award-winning author who has published more than ten novels, all but one of them mystery/thrillers, two short-story anthologies, and three illustrated children's books (K-3). This is his first Flash Fiction anthology. He also writes Young Adult (YA) novels under the pen name "Alyssa Devine." During the course of his 45-year career he has worked as an engineer, scientist, CBS Radio Stations News Service (RSNS) commentator, investor, private investigator, and Antarctic explorer. What he's been able to do with his background is mix fiction with reality in ways that even his family and friends have been unable to unravel! All of his novels, and most of short stories and flash fiction contributions, are based on or inspired by real events, some from his own life, some ripped from the headlines. Of his writing in Death by Wall Street, for example, Gary Sorkin of Pacific Book Review said: "Similar to the writing style of Michael Crichton and Tom Clancy, Ted Cohen adheres to short chapters laying out a mental storyboard in the reader's mind. He possesses a writing style ideal for screenplay adaptation with visuals that can make for a good movie." For more information on Dr. Cohen and his novels, short stories, and other contributions to the literature, the interested reader is invited to view the book descriptions, photographs, poetry, and videos that can be found at . Alyssa Devine is the pseudonym for an award-winning author of Young Adult (YA) mystery/thrillers and police procedurals (i.e., Theodore Jerome Cohen). "Her" books explore the paranormal, tarot card readings, reincarnation, and magical realism. In them, readers will discover contemporaneously realistic stories about teenagers in setting similar to those found in their own homes, schools, and towns.
