The parallels between Washington and Blake Roberts take place in different centuries, but you'll soon see that Blake Roberts was indeed cut from the same bolt of cloth as Washington. Still recuperating from 30 hours of non-stop torture in the infamous Tora Mazraa prison in Egypt (following his successful rescue of 25 American hostages) he comes back home to an America that has suffered through a catastrophic occurrence. When some heroic C.I.A. operatives activated a top-secret piece of unknown technology known as the 'Electrical Dampening Field', it resulted in downing a fighter jet that was on its way to dropping a nuclear warhead on Tehran. While the 'E.D.F.' was indeed successful in preventing Armageddon, it turned out that electrical grids across the world have been fried. America itself was not immune from this effect either. Now, six months later, half of the country is still living a powerless existence and the country is on the verge of collapse. A hero is needed...a rallying point for a beleaguered nation. So former President George W. Bush, (himself rescued from imprisonment by Roberts and team as were Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and the leadership of Congress at Guantanamo Bay prison) asks an incredulous Roberts if he would ever consider a run for the Presidency with Bush serving as his V.P. The reason for this special election is due to the assassination of former President (and it turned out closet-Nazi) Richard Stafford at the 'The City of the Dead' the Vatican's 'Necropolis', before the very grave of St. Peter himself. At the moment of the assassination, Stafford had been making what was supposed to be an announcement of a peace settlement when he suddenly did an about face and announced that a nuclear warhead was heading for Tehran at that very moment. In the current situation, Bush and Clinton are both acting as 'Co-Presidents' in a caretaker government until new elections can be held. With no prior administrative or political experience, Roberts will take on the role of a Dwight Eisenhower: a conquering hero who returns home to become President. But before election day, Roberts will have to endure a 60 day whirlwind campaign season including an intense national debate against Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. Trump had lost the prior election to the evil Richard Stafford. Just when you think things couldn't get more complex than they already are, Roberts will find himself the subject of an F.B.I. investigation...you will also find yourself worrying for the future of America as it continues to list through one crisis after another. Can Blake right the ship of state or will America find itself mired in a La Brea Tar Pit of problems from which there is no escape? 'Federal Rapid Resonse Unit: 'Nation Divided' is author, Angelo Spagnolo's, fifth published work. His first effort was the 2013 quite-humorous golf autobiography titled 'Life's an Unplayable Lie'. In it he documented his 25-year career and sojourn as 'America's Worst Avid Golfer', a title he more than earned after years of futile play, back in 1985. Following his success with his first writing experience, he decided to dive into fiction writing by penning his first screenplay in 2014, an action-adventure titled 'The Heroes of La Palma'. This book was the first in a series dubbed, 'The Federal Rapid Response Unit'; a top-secret counter-terrorism unit founded by former-President George W. Bush in the aftermath of 9/11. No sooner was this first screenplay in print when he had the immediate inspiration for his second story in the 'F.R.R.U.' series, the October, 2015-released, 'Kecksburg Doppelganger Effect'. Ironically-enough this story made its way into print just two months prior to the 50th anniversary of the infamous Kecksburg UFO incident...one of the greatest, unsolved-mysteries in the history of the United States. The follow-up to 'Kecksburg' came with the October 31, 2016 release of his latest action-thriller: 'Tales From St. Peter's Basement'. Spagnolo, is a retired former supermarket owner-operator who earned a Journalism & Communications degree from Point Park College (now University) in Pittsburgh back in 1976. "I spent a few years in the newspaper business, but the bulk of my career came in the form of running our family's supermarket business," he says. Now that I've retired from the organized chaos that's supermarketing, I'm really pleased to be blessed with not just a vivid imagination, but also a lifetime's-worth of experiences. As I can vividly remember, my grandfather and dad were both great story-tellers in their day, so I have great lineage going for me in that regard. But I've managed to take my inherited story-telling capabilities one step further...I can put my tales into an exciting, readable format that you won't want to put down. 'Nation Divided' is my fourth foray into screenplay writing and I now feel that I've truly found something that I love to do. The only thing that I ask is that you don't hesitate to get started! One piece of advice I can offer is that you might want to start with 'The Heroes of La Palma' for maximum enjoyment of the entire series!
