I always demanded that problems were solved when they arose and they were not allowed to linger, as the longer any problem remains the greater it will become, and become a larger problem. It was my job to determine when things were working as they should, and be able to spot any potential problem that made my hospital run less effective than it should, and if problems occurred to be able to effectively communicate to my department heads the problem and have them correct the situation before it got out of hand. Throughout my career, my job was to make my managers the best they could be and if I was successful, they knew how to handle any situation that may arise and have it corrected before it got out of hand. My purpose in this book is to provide to my readers the keys to making you the best you can be in your profession, and are the keys that will let you be the leader that you need to be, and reach the full potential that you can become. As I searched my hospital for potential leaders to work alongside me, the keys found in this book is what I looked for, and are the keys I used to make myself the best I could become and be the most effective leader I could be.
