A Monsoon Rhapsody is a romantic fiction about the journey of a British young woman who travels to India alone, braves the chaotic traffic, sultry heat and unscrupulous business-minded people to find love, warmth and friendship and discovers the real meaning of life amidst hardship and conflicts. Aparna, of mixed origin, with an English mum and an Indian dad, lives in London and works for a multinational company manufacturing medical equipment. After breaking up with her fiance’, Aparna’s job takes her to Kolkata, a city in East India, where her dad had spent his last few years before dying of a heart attack. Aparna arrives in the city filled with deep rooted resentment towards her late father for abandoning her when she was eighteen. With the shrewd business minded Basak Sarkar as her right hand man, she is determined to meet her business targets and then return to London, hoping for a much deserved promotion. But the city and its people transforms her. As she fights her loneliness and faces the numerous challenges at work, she befriends Mayuri who helps her to warm up to the city and its people. On a rain drenched afternoon she meets Sanjay, an unconventional doctor who fights the system and practices with honesty and integrity. With Sanjay on her side, Aparna embarks on a journey to discover the truth about her dad - a truth that eventually changes her perception about him. With Sanjay she travels beyond the boundaries of the city to witness people living amidst poverty and hardship. All along the journey, she feels drawn towards the quiet, reserved and lonesome doctor. But there is an invisible barrier which prevents her from getting closer. Does Sanjay carry a secret unknown to her? Will she come to term with her father’s death and discover her roots in the city? Will destiny allow Aparna to find her true love ? Will she be able to leave behind her target driven life and follow her father's footsteps?
