In 2012 God turned Sara Nelson O’Brien’s life upside down with a diagnosis of aggressive endometrial cancer. Yet during her therapy and recovery he led her to a greater dependence on his Word and a deeper understanding of his eternal love. Then he called her to write a devotional book for others facing cancer. Sara’s first book, The Bald-Headed, Tattooed, Motorcycle Mama’s Devotional Guide: For Cancer Warriors & the People Who Love Them, focuses on the hope that can be found during the difficult days of cancer treatment: that God’s promises are true, he is present and faithful, he cares, and his arms are everlasting. It is also a bright reminder that there can be joy in this journey. Sara lives in the beautiful “city of the hills,” Oneonta, New York, where she continues to write devotionals and can sometimes be seen wearing her bright pink biker jacket and riding a little Suzuki motorcycle well below the speed limit.
