Synopsis
Historical fiction novel by Faulkner-Wisdom Novel-in-Progress Contest semifinalist. Two men want her. One king needs her. But she has her own plans. Portuguese King Joao II turned down Columbus to work his own plans to reach the Orient. Mbekah, a slave newly captured on the Gold Coast, arrives in Lisbon just in time to fit into those plans. In this story, inspired by truth-is-stranger-than-fiction events, Machiavellian King Joao manipulates Mbekah, into a covert operation that would change the course of world history. Meanwhile, Mbekah makes allies at court and in his majesty’s fleet to pursue her own ambitions.
