This book is about artificial intelligence meeting the future of society building. AI will be so powerful in the near future that we will have to change our political-economic system because of it. This 21st will be the last century with Homo sapiens as the top dog on this planet. Artificially intelligent beings are taking over our jobs at an alarming rate. We will become obsolete – but that doesn’t mean we have to become extinct. Whether that happens will depend on how we prepare for the arrival of our much smarter mind-child: Rono sapiens (Robo+Nano=Rono).

Capitalism worked well for a long time. However, under capitalism the takeover of AI will lead to growing unemployment and underemployment. Then come protests, riots and increasingly violent clashes between the ruling elite – the owners of the machines – and everyone else. Whoever remains standing from those conflicts, Rono sapiens will likely finish. After all, who would want to keep around a genocidal species, even if it’s your mommy and daddy? Capitalism is the path to extinction, but a more socialistic system, with more human values, may save us from doom. While denouncing Soviet-style totalitarian socialism, the gradual transformation of Nordic-type social democracy into democratic socialism might provide the best path for the future.
