Synopsis

At sixty-six, Jake Walker thinks he's ready for some peace and quiet. He's a Vietnam veteran, former POW, recent widower, and retired SWAT team commander with the Houston Police Department, so he looks for a new life of leisure in the small town of Rockriver, Texas. But adventure finds him even when he's not looking for it. Before he knows it, a forty-year-old cold case murder catches his attention, and he is on the trail of crime and corruption--and something more. Camy Jo Parker is a divorcée who seems to be interested in more than Jake's abilities as a detective. Will Jake find a new career and lease on life in what seemed to be a sleepy small town?

While Justice Sleeps: Secrets in a Small Town is Jerry Snodgrass's twelfth novel. While Justice Sleeps not only fictionalizes Snodgrass's experiences with the military but also preserves stories of the small-town life, as one by one small-town police departments are shut down.
