Synopsis

The Power of Twelve Prayers is Gary's third book on the power of prayer as expressed in the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. He delves into the history of seven spiritual organizations that preceded AA and takes a long look at AA's underlying philosophy, Jesus's Sermon on the Mount. He takes the reader through prayers that express the essence of each of the Twelve Steps, while embracing the Beatitudes, the blessings that start the Sermon on the Mount. As an AA historian who has developed a presentation that he shares with the AA community regarding the foundation and development of the fellowship, Gary is uniquely positioned to inspire others with often unrecognized deep inspiration that illuminates the Twelve Steps.

Praise for The Power of Twelve Prayers

"Gary has devoted an immense amount of time to learning about, filming, and circulating video materials on where AA comes from and got its ideas. And now he has put together an excellent video series of AA historical materials...accurately and well." - Richard Burns, AA Historical Author

"Gary has always acknowledged his successes to the Holy Spirit. His humility and devotion inspire his words." - Paul Kominis, longtime AA member and fellowship mentor.

"The Power of Twelve Prayers represents a communion of orthopraxis prayer and the practice of twelve-step spirituality--an orthopraxis--for transformational abiding in Him who says, 'Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing' (John 15:5)." - Rev. Philip Bjornberg, Trinity Episcopal Church, Portland CT
